Two chairs in front of a wall of records and a nice stereo.

The listening lounge is a fusion of a cocktail recipe book and a curated selection of albums. The concept is inspired by the Japanese Kissa rooms that appeared in Tokyo in the 1920’s. These were dedicated sanctuaries to gather for the intentional listening of music, typically jazz. They featured high quality stereos, dim lighting, and served alcoholic drinks, but the focus was the album on the turntable.

The albums featured here are essential albums from the Texas music section of our record collection. They cover the time period from the early seventies to today and cross into all genres of music. Some of them were highly successful and turned the artists into national stars, but many are local treasures that only made the artists “Texas famous.”

The cocktail recipes are provided so you can create your own at home Kissa room experience – each album is paired with an accompanying libation. The wine list is purely Texan, and showcases the maturing quality and unique attributes of Texas wineries and vineyards.
